Simone Biles

Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz14 March 1997; 4) is an American gymnast who is artistic. Shannon Miller holds the record for the most Olympic medals awarded by an American gymnast with seven. She also ranks equal ninth overall. Biles is considered by many to be the greatest gymnast to ever compete, having earned 25 World Championship medals. In 2022, Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden. In the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles won individual gold medals in the all-around, vault, and floor; bronze on the balance beam and gold with the United States team, dubbed the "Final Five".At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo Biles was a participant. Biles was predicted to win at most four of the six available gold medals. She was forced to withdraw from the most of the games due to difficulties with "the twisties", a temporary loss of air balance. Biles was awarded a silver medal as part of the US team and a bronze medal in the balance beam. Her partial withdrawal, focus on mental health, safety and perseverance were recognized. She is also a five time World all-around champion (2013-15, 2018-19), five times World floor exercise champion (2013)-2015 and 2018-2019), three times World balance beam champion (2014)-2015 and 2019) and two-time World vault champion (2018), and was part of the gold-winning American teams in all four World Artistic Gymnastics Championships (2014 and 2015, as well as 2018, 2018 and 2019). Biles was born on the 14th of March 1997 in Columbus, Ohio, the third of four siblings.Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was unable to care for Simone or her siblings - Adria, Ashley, and Tevin. All four were in and out of foster care. In 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles began temporarily caring for Shanon's children in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after discovering that his grandchildren had been placed in foster care. In 2003, the couple officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon and Shanon's aunt Harriet and Harriet adopted their two children.
